Today's Sound Voltex update introduces the Battle Sequence System, alongside Episode 05 of its story mode, which unlocks a song called Ops:Code-Rapture-.

A battle sequence can be attached to a story chapter, and can be identified by a wormhole icon on the chapter selection screen. This means that at some point throughout the chapter, you'll have to defeat one or more enemies using the members of the NEMSYS crew you can acquire by pulling PUR-rarity genesis cards from a Generator -Real Model-. You can select the member of the NEMSYS crew you'd like to use at the chapter selection screen. If you haven't pulled any PURs, you will have RASIS-03 at your disposal, but with no skill.

NEMSYS crew members have a series of stats:

  • Level: raised by gaining experience from battles, boosts base stats on level up
  • Skill: each member has a skill which buffs certain stats depending on your gameplay performance
  • Skill Level: if you pull another PUR card of the same crew member, that crew member's skill will be levelled up and the stat buff will be increased
  • HP: once a crew member's HP hits 0, they can't be used anymore, but it's unclear at the moment if or when HP is recovered
  • Attack: determines the damage a crew member deals
  • Speed: determines how many times a crew member can attack
  • Critical: determines the rate at which attacks will be critical hits

Once you've chosen your character, you play a credit of Sound Voltex like you usually do, until the Total Result screen where the battle sequence takes place, and you see your character go up against whatever enemy.

After the battle, your selected crew member will gain experience. The amount of experience you gain is tied to how well you did in songs that credit (the clear rank specifically), and bonus experience is given if you've pulled a genesis card on that credit.
